CAFFE` LATTE` TOP 2000 TRACKS
THE TOP 100
#66 LOVE LOVE LOVE
AGNES
(2009)
Writer: Anders Hansson
In 2009, Agnes Carlsson competed in Melodifestivalen with "Love Love Love", hoping she would represent her homeland at the Eurovision Song Contest. She made it through to the Grand Final but Sweden selected the popera song "La Voix" by Marlena Ernman to go to Moscow as the Swedish entry. Her lack of success at Melodifestivalen was eclipsed by her chart breakthrough in various key markets around the world.
Carlsson was born in 1988 in Vänersborg, Sweden. At a young age, she began singing in a choir and playing the violin. In 2005, she won "Swedish Idol". Her debut single "Right Here Right Now (My Heart Belongs To You)" reached #1 in Sweden. First album 'Agnes' made the top there, as did 'Stronger' the following year. In 2008, Agnes severed ties with her label, Sony BMG, citing creative differences.
"Love..." was written and produced by Anders Hansson. He also helped arrange the strings on the track with violinist Erik Arvinder and played keyboards. The song starts with a subtle and sweet intro before an energetic blast of Hi-NRG Swedish-pop kicks in. The single peaked at #4 on the Swedish chart.
Around the time of "Love...", Agnes' profile was raised via the single "Release Me". Her new label home, Roxy Recordngs, released the 3rd album 'Dance Love Pop'. "On And On" made inroads in various territories, setting Agnes up for greater success with its follow-up. "Release Me" charted in not only Scandinavia, but throughout Europe and beyond. It reached the Top 40 in Australia, Israel, the UK and #1 on Billboard Magazine's US Dance Club Songs chart. "I Need You Now" also fared well. While Agnes' chart run has slowed down since then, she released a new album entitled 'Veritas' in 2012.
This is a list made up of the songs I enjoy the most, ranked in order of preference: the higher we go, the more I cherish them. Some were released as singles, others as album tracks. Some are obscure; others were worldwide hits or have universal appeal. They aren't always the most famous or popular, but simply a personal choice. I have excluded songs from the last few years in order to get a better idea of a song's lasting impression. I hope you find some new tracks to love, or re-discover some past favourites.
A new song from the remaining Top 100 is added each weekday, while another 2 are also included from positions 1501-2000 daily. Check back here every 12 hours for an update of the 2000.
