The original version of "I Didn't Mean To Turn You On" was released in 1986 by Cherelle. While that interpretation only made an impact on the US Soul Chart, a cover by Robert Palmer became the hit take on the Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis composition. The remake was produced by Chic's Bernard Edwards.
