Yes, he was a vile human being, but as a producer, Spector was revolutionary, creating some of pop’s best moments and helming significant recordings. He first tasted chart success as a member of The Teddy Bears with “To Know Him Is To Love Him”. He performed, wrote and produced the 1958 US #1 single. Next, he gave the girl group era its defining hits, including “He’s A Rebel”, “Be My Baby”, “Da Doo Ron Ron”, “Walking In The Rain” and “Then He Kissed Me”. Spector created the Wall Of Sound, injecting the effect on radio staples such as “You’ve Lost that Lovin’ Feelin’”, “River Deep, Mountain High” and “Unchained Melody”. After producing The Beatles’ ‘Let it Be’ album, he continued his association with the Fab Four, helming solo hits “Imagine” and “My Sweet Lord”. Spector also worked with The Ramones.
