BEFORE IT WAS A HIT SONG…

These songs are well known but you may not know about the earlier attempts to score a hit record with prior versions of the same song.

Now That We Found Love

In 1991, Heavy D and the Boyz enjoyed worldwide success with "Now That We Found Love". The track featured a backing vocal by R&B singer Aaron Hall. In the U.S.A., the single peaked at #11, but it went Top 10 in many European countries, Australia and New Zealand.

The Heavy D and the Boyz version returned the song to the British Top 10. Theirs reached #2. In 1978, Third World reached #10 with its version. This was another remake.

"Now That We Found Love" was written by Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff. They offered the song to The O'Jays, one of the groups on their Philadelphia International Records label. Their original version was featured on the 1973 album 'Ship Ahoy'.
