One of the most misunderstood hit songs is Bruce Springsteen's "Born In The U.S.A.". It has mistakenly been adopted as a patriotic American anthem. Springsteen's intention was to criticize his country's treatment of Vietnam War veterans.
The song served as the title track from Springsteen's hit album. Unleashed in 1984, the LP reached #1 in America, Britain, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and many European countries. The single topped the chart in New Zealand and made the Top 10 in the U.S.A., Britain and Australia.
