100 SONGS THAT CHANGED EVERYTHING
1968
💥39 Helter Skelter
The Beatles
The
Who’s “I Can See For Miles” inspired the creation of “Helter Skelter”. Paul
McCartney fancied the idea of recording the loudest song ever. In the process, the
Beatles may have inadvertently cut the first ever heavy metal record. This was
an undeniable example of the range of the group and songwriter (in this case)
Paul McCartney. Here was the same musician that penned “Yesterday”, “Michelle” and “Blackbird”, screaming out the
lyrics to “Helter Skelter”, another of his compositions. After various takes,
the finished version was included on ‘The Beatles’ (aka ‘The White Album’).
