The Beatles
The Beatles started scoring hits in the UK during 1962. “Love Me Do” took John, Paul, George & Ringo into the Top 20 for the first time. Follow-up “Please Please Me” peaked at #2. The next two releases, “From Me To You” and “She Loves You”, reached the chart summit. When the group unleashed “I Want To Hold Your Hand”, Beatlemania’s full force was ignited. The Beatles conquered one country after another. Each territory’s charts were occupied by the group. When the band touched down in the U.S.A. and performed on the “Ed Sullivan Show”, countless future rock stars succumbed to the calling. The planet surrendered to the members’ British charm and wit. Here was a self-contained unit that created its own songs. This was definitely a watershed moment. The Beatles had more in store for us…
