100 SONGS THAT CHANGED EVERYTHING
1967
💥32 Venus In Furs
The Velvet Underground
It’s often been claimed that although the debut album by The Velvet Underground & Nico only sold around 30,000 copies, every one of those record buyers started a band. While the LP was no success at the time of its release, it managed to gradually attract respect and attention. Its importance has grown immensely in the decades since. “Venus In Furs” is one of the reasons for its influence on art-rock and rock music in general. Lou Reed wrote the song. Andy Warhol helmed the recording. The song sounded like nothing else before it. Parent album ‘The Velvet Underground & Nico’ helped shape glam, goth, new wave, punk and inspired musicians such as David Bowie, Brian Eno, The Stooges, Talking Heads, Television, Kraftwerk and The Cure.
