-VH-1 premieres.
-American artists unite to record "We Are the World", written by Michael Jackson & Lionel Richie.
-The Crowd reach #1 with a charity remake of "You'll Never Walk Alone".
-The Live Aid concerts in London & Philadelphia as well as other world locations are held. 
-Live Aid is watched by over 1 billion people around the world.
-John Lennon's son Julian charts with his slo singles & album.
- The inaugural Farm Aid concert.
-Rick Nelson dies in a plane crash.

The year opened with Band Aid at #1 in various countries. A group of British pop stars united to record a charity single. Bob Geldof's idea spawned an American response in USA for Africa's recording "We Are The World". 1985 was also the year of the Live Aid global concert event. Phil Collins and Sting enjoyed immense success as soloists. David Lee Roth launched his solo career.
