THE 41 SONGS

(ranked in order of preference)

The Eurovision Song Contest begins in Tel Aviv on May 14. Two semi-finals will see 35 songs reduced to 20 and join last year’s winning nation Israel alongside the pre-qualified ‘Big 5’ countries (France, Italy, Spain, United Kingdom & Germany) in the Grand Final 4 days later.

The songs are ranked in order of song quality, starting with the weakest of the 41 entries. Preferences may change once they are performed live during the Semi-Finals.

8 ITALY

MAHMOOD

As one of the “Big 5” countries, Italy’s entry has already pre-qualified for the Grand Final. This is definitely one song to watch. “Soldi” (“Money”) is to be sung in English with some Arabic lyrics.  Its modern style is refreshing for Eurovision and will work in its favour. Its lyrics are powerful and hopefully Mahmood’s live performance will convey the meaning of the song.  “Soldi” is growing into a strong contender for the win.
