In 2023, Sweden won the Eurovision Song Contest for a record-equalling seventh time (shared with Ireland). It is hard to argue that any other ESC participant country takes the annual event as seriously as the Swedes do. Their national selections – Melodifestivalen- is held over many weeks and usually features several strong contenders. The final rivals the actual Eurovision Final in its professionalism and entertainment.
This enthusiasm for the Contest has resulted in an enviable legacy. Here are 25 of Sweden’s most impressive Eurovision entries…

THE MAMAS
2020
Sweden’s 2019 entry featured The Mamas on backing vocals. The following year, the trio was chosen at Melodifestivalen to represent the country with the song “Move”. The outcome of the entry will remain unknown because the 2020 Eurovision Song Contest was cancelled because of the pandemic.
The Mamas tried again the following year. Countries could send the acts chosen for the 2020 Contest with a new song. Sweden opted to start afresh. The Mamas participated with new song "In The Middle". It progressed to the Grand Final at Melodifestivalen 2021 where it finished in third place.
