CAFFE` LATTE`
TOP 1200 CHOICE TRACKS

#673 SINCE I LEFT YOU The Avalanches
Australian dance act The Avalanches formed in Melbourne in 1977. They came to the wider attention of the world in 2000 with "Since I Left You", the title track from their well received debut album which was also issued that same year. The song was basically penned by group members Robbie Chater, Darren Seltman and Tony Diblasi; with elements sampled from a variety of songs, including -most prominently- The Main Ingredient's "Everyday". Therefore, other writers credited for the song include: Edward Drennen, Gordon McQuilten, Jeanne Salo and Jimmy Webb. The single fared poorly overall, but did dent the lower rungs of the Pop charts in Europe, Australia and peaked at #16 in Britain (where this was the group's 2nd Top 20 hit). It is fondly remembered for its original incorporation of samples from varied musical sources.
