#677 SAME SCRIPT, DIFFERENT CAST Whitney Housto & Deborah Cox
In 2000, Arista released a double CD packed with Whitney Houston's greatest hits. The compilation included some new tracks; one being a duet with labelmate Deborah Cox entitled "Same Script, Different Cast". The ballad was co-written by its producer Anthony "Shep" Crawford with Stacey Daniels, Shae Jones and Montell Jordan. In the song, the 2 women find themselves involved with the same man. Houston warns Cox that all the promises he is making her now, have been made before. The backing track features Beethoven's "Fur Elise".
Released as a single, the duet only managed to peak at #70 on the US Hot 100. On the R&B chart however, the collaboration reached #14. The single also entered the Canadian Top 40. It was later included on Cox's 2004 compilation CD, 'Ultimate Deborah Cox'.
