CAFFE` LATTE`
TOP 1200 CHOICE TRACKS

#417 YOU'RE MY WORLD Cilla Black
"You're My World" - Cilla Black's biggest international hit- started life as the Italian song "Il Mio Mondo" (My World). That version was composed by Umberto Bindi and Gino Paoli. Carl Sigman penned the English lyrics for Black's rendition. Johnny Pearson created the new arrangement for the stunning interpretation. George Martin, who was also working with The Beatles at the time, produced the remake. Released in 1964, "... World reached #1 in Britain and Australia for the vocalist from Liverpool. The single also peaked at #2 in Ireland, 12 in Canada and became her sole Top 40 hit in America.
Black was born in 1943 with the name Priscilla White. She was discovered by Beatles manager Brian Epstein. It was he who suggested the name change. She scored many other hits after "... World", as well as hosting TV shows "Surprise, Surprise!" and "Blind Date". Sigman passed away in 2000, aged 91. He also penned "It's all in the Game" and "Pennsylvania 6-5000".

This is a list made up of the songs I enjoy the most, ranked in order of preference: the higher we go, the more I cherish them. Some were released as singles, others as album tracks. Some are obscure; others were worldwide hits or have universal appeal. They aren't always the most famous or popular, but simply a personal choice. I have excluded songs from the last few years in order to get a better idea of a song's lasting impression. I hope you find some new tracks to love, or re-discover some past favourites.
2 new songs are added each day (every 12 hours)  with a mid-week bonus every Wednesday.
