CAFFE` LATTE`
TOP 1200 CHOICE TRACKS

#427 I'VE GOT TO HAVE YOU Carly Simon
Songwriter Kris Kristofferson penned the 2 chart hits enjoyed by country singer Sammi Smith in the early 70s: "Help Me Make it Through the Night"  in 1971 and "I've Got To Have You" the following year.  Gladys Knight & The Pips transformed the former into a soulful R&B classic in 1972 and Carly Simon  interpreted the latter as a pop/ rock love song on her 1971 album 'Anticipation'. Released as a single in Australia in the following year, the disc peaked at #6. Kristofferson recorded the song for his duet album, with then wife Rita Coolidge, 'Breakaway' in 1974.

This is a list made up of the songs I enjoy the most, ranked in order of preference: the higher we go, the more I cherish them. Some were released as singles, others as album tracks. Some are obscure; others were worldwide hits or have universal appeal. They aren't always the most famous or popular, but simply a personal choice. I have excluded songs from the last few years in order to get a better idea of a song's lasting impression. I hope you find some new tracks to love, or re-discover some past favourites.
2 new songs are added each day (every 12 hours)  with a mid-week bonus every Wednesday.
