CAFFE` LATTE`
TOP 1200 CHOICE TRACKS

#432 ALWAYS SOMETHING THERE TO REMIND ME Naked Eyes
Vocalist Pete Byrne and keyboardist Rob Fisher met at school and formed the UK duo Naked Eyes in 1981. The following year saw the recording of their breakthrough single, a cover of the Burt Bacharach / Hal David song "Always Something There To Remind Me". Produced by Tony Mansfield, the track was included on the duo's 1983 album 'Burning Bridges'.
The remake featured a fresh approach to the oft-covered song, built around its synth-pop makeover. Curiously, Naked Eyes' version only reached #59 in Britain. The single fared far better outside the UK; peaking at #2 in New Zealand, 7 in Australia and 8 on the American and Canadian charts.
"Promises Promises" climbed to #11 in America and the duo placed 2 more singles in the US Top 40. Dwindling success led to the duo splitting in 1984. Fisher went on to formed a new duo a few years later with Simon Climie. That duo (Climie Fisher) enjoyed worldwide success with "Love Changes Everything" in 1988. Sadly, Fisher passed away in 1999 of complications after surgery. In 2007, Byrne released a new album on his own, under the name Naked Eyes, entitled 'Fumbling with the Covers'.

This is a list made up of the songs I enjoy the most, ranked in order of preference: the higher we go, the more I cherish them. Some were released as singles, others as album tracks. Some are obscure; others were worldwide hits or have universal appeal. They aren't always the most famous or popular, but simply a personal choice. I have excluded songs from the last few years in order to get a better idea of a song's lasting impression. I hope you find some new tracks to love, or re-discover some past favourites.
2 new songs are added each day (every 12 hours)  with a mid-week bonus every Wednesday.
