CAFFE` LATTE`
TOP 1200 CHOICE TRACKS

#373 LOSING MY MIND Liza Minelli
In 1989, Liza Minnelli released her 'Results' LP. It was a project which teamed her with songwriters/ producers The Pet Shop Boys. Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe wrote the bulk of its tracks. "Losing my Mind" was 1 of the 3 exceptions. This track was penned by Stephen Sondheim. The legendary composer had previously created timeless songs from musicals that included "West Side Story", "Gypsy" and "Company".
In 1971, the show "Follies" opened on Broadway. "Losing my Mind" was 1 of its highlights. Minnelli's version was produced by The Pet Shop Boys with Julian Mendelsohn. The single was successful: reaching #6 in Britain and peaking in the Top 10 in Europe.
She is, of course, the daughter of singer / actress Judy Garland and film director Vincente Minnelli. Liza was born in 1946 in Hollywood. Her 1st performance was as a baby in a film directed by her dad and starring her mother. Her parents divorced in 1951. The young Minnelli decided on entertainment as a career at an early age. In 1965 she won a Tony Award for her role in "Flora, The Red Menace". She married Australian performer Peter Allen 2 years later. They divorced in 1974. She has married thrice since then.

This is a list made up of the songs I enjoy the most, ranked in order of preference: the higher we go, the more I cherish them. Some were released as singles, others as album tracks. Some are obscure; others were worldwide hits or have universal appeal. They aren't always the most famous or popular, but simply a personal choice. I have excluded songs from the last few years in order to get a better idea of a song's lasting impression. I hope you find some new tracks to love, or re-discover some past favourites.
2 new songs are added each day (every 12 hours)  with a mid-week bonus every Wednesday.
