As countries begin selecting their entries for the Eurovision Song Contest in May, this blog will look back on the stats and the best from each of the 43 participating nations.

Udo Jürgens - Merci, Chérie.jpgAustria delivered the ESC one of its most memorable entries when Conchita Wurst snatched victory with "Rise Like A Phoenix" in 2014. 
The nation first competed in 1957. Its only other win was in 1966 when Udo Jürgens performed "Merci Chérie". 
The 2017 Austrian entry will be performed by soloist Nathan Trent. His song will be revealed next month.
