As countries begin selecting their entries for the Eurovision Song Contest in May, this blog will look back on the stats and the best from each of the 43 participating nations.

Cyprus first competed at Eurovision in 1981. It has participated 33 times and is yet to taste victory. The 2016 entry "Alter Ego" by Minus One made it through to the Grand Final. Cyprus' best result has been a few finishes in 5th place; most recently in 2004 with Lisa Andreas.
 The 2017 Cypriot entry will be performed by Hovig. His song will be composed by Swedish hit writer Thomas G:son.
