These songs are well known
but you may not know about the earlier attempts to score a hit record with
prior versions of the same song.
It Must Be Love
British born singer Labi Siffre wrote the song "It Must Be Love". His original version charted in the UK in 1971, peaking at #14. This interpretation was more soulful than the remake by Madness. It was included on the singer's 1972 album entitled 'Crying Laughing Loving Lying'.
Madness covered the song 10 years later. This version surpassed the success of the original, peaking at #4 in Britain and was the band's first US chart entry. It also reached the Australian Top 10.
