CAFFE` LATTE`
TOP 1200 CHOICE TRACKS

#570 LET IT BE ME Kate Ceberano
This oft-recorded song began as French composition "Je T'Appartiens" by Gilbert Becaud in 1955, with original lyrics written by Pierre Delanoe. Manny Curtis adapted the song for an English-speaking audience.
The first English version of the song was recorded by Jill Corey in 1957.When The Everly Brothers recorded it, the song's profile grew significantly. The duo's version was released in 1960 and peaked at #7 in America and 13 in the UK. Since then, it has been re-interpreted by an array of performers that has included Betty Everett and Jerry Butler in 1964; Elvis Presley in 1970 and Rod Stewart with Jennifer Hudson in 2009.

The version included here was recorded in 2004 by Australian singer Kate Ceberano. The track appears on her '19 Days in New York' album, produced by 2 veterans of R&B: Billy Davis and Leonard Caston.

This is a list made up of the songs I enjoy the most, ranked in order of preference: the higher we go, the more I cherish them. Some were released as singles, others as album tracks. Some are obscure; others were worldwide hits or have universal appeal. They aren't always the most famous or popular, but simply a personal choice. I have excluded songs from the last few years in order to get a better idea of a song's lasting impression. I hope you find some new tracks to love, or re-discover some past favourites.
2 new songs are added each day (every 12 hours)  with a mid-week bonus every Wednesday.
