CAFFE` LATTE`
TOP 1200 CHOICE TRACKS

#593 TWIST IN MY SOBRIETY Tanita Tikaram
Tanita Tikaram was born in Germany to Malaysian and Fijian parents in 1969. Relocating in London at a young age, Tikaram launched her musical career while still in her teens. In 1988, she recorded her debut album 'Ancient Heart'. This was produced by Peter Van Hooke and Rod Argent. The latter had been a member of the groups The Zombies and Free. Tikaram penned "Twist in my Sobriety" for this album and it proved a worthy breakthrough track. The single peaked at #22 in Britain and 19 in Australia. She has never managed to repeat that success, but continues to record new material. Her most recent release was 'Can't Hold Back' in 2012.

This is a list made up of the songs I enjoy the most, ranked in order of preference: the higher we go, the more I cherish them. Some were released as singles, others as album tracks. Some are obscure; others were worldwide hits or have universal appeal. They aren't always the most famous or popular, but simply a personal choice. I have excluded songs from the last few years in order to get a better idea of a song's lasting impression. I hope you find some new tracks to love, or re-discover some past favourites.
To mark the occasion of reaching the halfway mark for this special countdown, a new song will be added on the hour all day today (in place of this week's Mid Week Bonus).
