CAFFE` LATTE`
TOP 1200 CHOICE TRACKS

#573 LAST THING ON MY MIND Steps
Steps announced their arrival in 1997 with debut single "5,6,7,8". This breakthrough disc charted in various countries, including Australia where it climbed to #1. 'Step One', the UK group's first album followed the next year. Second single, "Last Thing on my Mind", was a remake of a song Bananarama had released in 1993 from their album 'Please Yourself'. By that time the girl group had downsized to a duo. Remaining members Keren Woodward and Sarah Dalin co-wrote the song with Mike Stock and Pete Waterman.
In 1998, the latter resurrected the song when working with new group Steps. "Last Thing..." had fared poorly first time around, but the remake charted in various countries. It became a Belgian #1 and a Top 10 hit in the UK and Australia.
Steps enjoyed a string of hits that included "Better Best Forgotten", "Tragedy", "One For Sorrow" and "Stomp". The pop group broke up in 2001. They re-united 10 years later for concerts, a documentary and a new album.  At present, the group is said to be on hiatus; indefinitely.

This is a list made up of the songs I enjoy the most, ranked in order of preference: the higher we go, the more I cherish them. Some were released as singles, others as album tracks. Some are obscure; others were worldwide hits or have universal appeal. They aren't always the most famous or popular, but simply a personal choice. I have excluded songs from the last few years in order to get a better idea of a song's lasting impression. I hope you find some new tracks to love, or re-discover some past favourites.
2 new songs are added each day (every 12 hours)  with a mid-week bonus every Wednesday.
