CAFFE` LATTE`
TOP 1200 CHOICE TRACKS

#594 HOPELESSLY DEVOTED TO YOU Olivia Newton-John
Olivia Newton-John recorded "Hopelessly Devoted To You" for the 'Grease' movie soundtrack. The film and album were both smash hits. She starred in the movie portraying Sandy opposite John Travolta as her love interest Danny. Fellow Aussie expat John Farrar penned and produced the ballad.
Released as a single in 1978, the song climbed to the top of the Canadian charts and peaked at #2 in Australia and the UK; #3 in the US and 6 in New Zealand. Along with its Pop Hot 100 success, it also made the Country and Adult Contemporary charts in America. The tender hit was nominated for an Academy Award in the Best Original Song category (losing to Donna Summer's "Last Dance").

This is a list made up of the songs I enjoy the most, ranked in order of preference: the higher we go, the more I cherish them. Some were released as singles, others as album tracks. Some are obscure; others were worldwide hits or have universal appeal. They aren't always the most famous or popular, but simply a personal choice. I have excluded songs from the last few years in order to get a better idea of a song's lasting impression. I hope you find some new tracks to love, or re-discover some past favourites.
To mark the occasion of reaching the halfway mark for this special countdown, a new song will be added on the hour all day today (in place of this week's Mid Week Bonus).
