CAFFE` LATTE`
TOP 1200 CHOICE TRACKS

Mid-week bonus: #556-554
#556 SULTANS OF SWING Dire Straits
Dire Straits cut through with debut single "Sultans of Swing" from their 1978 eponymous album. The song was written by lead singer and guitarist Mark Knopfler. Muff Winwood (Steve's older brother) produced the LP with the band.
Dire Straits sound like seasoned musicians on this- their first- hit. On the charts, the single made a significant splash; reaching the Top 10 in their native Britain, the US, Canada, Australia, Ireland and South Africa.

#555 SHINE LIKE IT DOES INXS
"Shine Like It Does" sounds like a sure fire hit single, yet curiously remained an INXS album track. Fortunately, it was included on 1 of the Australian group's most internationally successful LPs: 'Listen Like Thieves'. The album was issued in 1985.
"Shine..." was written by 2 group members who penned the bulk of this LP's tracks- Andrew Farris and Michael Hutchence. Chris Thomas handled production. The strings, guitars, synthesizer and percussion all mesh perfectly around a seductive and upbeat vocal from Hutchence.

#554 BREAKING US IN TWO Joe Jackson
Joe Jackson wrote about relationships for some of his best songs and "Breaking Us In Two" is a case in point. The singer/ songwriter penned the song and co-produced it with David Kershenbaum. It was featured on his best LP, 'Night and Day'. That album came out in 1982 and the track was lifted as its 3rd single the following year.

This is a list made up of the songs I enjoy the most, ranked in order of preference: the higher we go, the more I cherish them. Some were released as singles, others as album tracks. Some are obscure; others were worldwide hits or have universal appeal. They aren't always the most famous or popular, but simply a personal choice. I have excluded songs from the last few years in order to get a better idea of a song's lasting impression. I hope you find some new tracks to love, or re-discover some past favourites.
2 new songs are added each day (every 12 hours)  with a mid-week bonus every Wednesday. Today, 3 songs will be added every 6 hours.
