CAFFE` LATTE`
TOP 1200 CHOICE TRACKS

#608 'TILL THERE WAS YOU The Beatles
There's something endearing about hearing a group of musicians that would so radically influence rock 'n roll singing a cover version, especially the unlikely song choices. For a rock band like The Beatles to record their interpretation of a song from a musical reveals their versatlity.
"Till There Was You" was written by Meredith Wilson and featured in a musical based on his life, 'The Music Man'. The show opened on Broadway in 1957. Robert Preston had the title role on stage as well as the film version which hit screens in 1962.
As various versions of the song were being recorded, The Beatles decided to cut their remake. George Martin of course, was the producer when it was recorded for inclusion on 'Meet The Beatles', released late 1963. In the UK, the LP was entitled 'With The Beatles'.
