CAFFE` LATTE`
TOP 1200 CHOICE TRACKS

#301 EVERLASTING LOVE U2
The perennial favourite "Everlasting Love" has been covered by a vast array of artists ever since the original version by Robert Knight charted in 1967. The song was written by Buzz Cason and Mac Gayden. In the UK, The Love Affair took their cover version to #1 in early 1968. Other successful remakes have been released by the likes of Carl Carlton (1974), Rex Smith & Rachel Sweet (1981), Gloria Estefan (1995) and Michael Ball (2005).
U2's interpretation was issued in mid-1989 as part of a limited edition 12" single for "All I Want Is You". That track's B-sides were the Irish group's takes on "Unchained Melody" and "Everlasting Love". Both were produced by the band. Their engineer Paul Barrett played piano. In Australia, the track was also treated as a double A-side single with "All I Want..." and peaked at #2.

This is a list made up of the songs I enjoy the most, ranked in order of preference: the higher we go, the more I cherish them. Some were released as singles, others as album tracks. Some are obscure; others were worldwide hits or have universal appeal. They aren't always the most famous or popular, but simply a personal choice. I have excluded songs from the last few years in order to get a better idea of a song's lasting impression. I hope you find some new tracks to love, or re-discover some past favourites.
2 new songs are added each day (every 12 hours) with an expanded edition starting tomorrow!
