CAFFE` LATTE`
TOP 1500 CHOICE TRACKS

#296 ALL NIGHT LONG (ALL NIGHT) Lionel Richie
In 1983, Lionel Richie established himself as a star in his own right with the mega-success of his 'Can't Slow Down' album. This was no fluke. He wasn't sharing vocals with a superstar as he had with Diana Ross (on "Endless Love"). His solo career had finally eclipsed his success as a member of The Commodores. The LP became Motown's best seller, led by the international hit single "All Night Long (All Night)".
Richie wrote the song and gave it a Caribbean feel, complementing it with the catchy chant. He co-produced the track with James Anthony Carmichael. The recording session featured input from musicians Greg Phillinganes and Paulinho da Costa. Background vocals were contributed by Carmichael, Deborah Thomas and Richard Marx among others.
The single was a massive success on charts in several countries. So wide was its appeal that "All Night Long" reached #1 on the Pop, R&B and AC Charts in the USA. It also topped the Australian and Dutch listings and peaked at #2 in Britain.

This is a list made up of the songs I enjoy the most, ranked in order of preference: the higher we go, the more I cherish them. Some were released as singles, others as album tracks. Some are obscure; others were worldwide hits or have universal appeal. They aren't always the most famous or popular, but simply a personal choice. I have excluded songs from the last few years in order to get a better idea of a song's lasting impression. I hope you find some new tracks to love, or re-discover some past favourites.
2 new instalments are added each day (every 12 hours) with 1 of the remaining 300 songs as well as moving down from #1201 to 1500, with 5 of those songs added daily.
