The English guitar god referred to as "Slow Hand" was born in 1945. Eric Clapton has been a member of The Yardbirds, John Mayall's Bluesbreakers, Cream, Blind Faith and Derek & The Dominos. He also played on The Beatles track "While My Guitar Gently Weeps".
The legendary guitarist's solo career began in 1970 but major success in that capacity would eventuate 4 years later. His '461 Ocean Boulevard' LP reached #1 in America and #3 in Britain. It contained his US #1 single "I Shot The Sheriff". This hit was followed by the songs: "Cocaine", "After Midnight", "Lay Down Sally", "Wonderful Tonight" and "I Can't Stand It".
The tragic death of his son Conor inspired the touching ballad "Tears In Heaven" in 1992. Around this time, Clapton released his best selling album to date - 'MTV Unplugged', which reached #1 in America and #2 in the UK.
Now in his 70s, Clapton still records and performs. He can truly be proud of his immense legacy, as a musician / writer of classic rock tracks such as "White Room", "Sunshine Of Your Love", "Layla", "Badge" and "Strange Brew".
