#105
COMFORTABLY NUMB
“…Now I got that feeling once again,
I can’t explain,
you would not understand,
this is not how I am.
I have become comfortably numb...
Roger Waters and David Gilmour of Pink Floyd co-wrote "Comfortably Numb" for the group's 1979 album project 'The Wall'.
The song's protagonist is Pink, who needs drugs in order to perform to a waiting audience. Music and lyrics mesh effectively, creating the feeling of sedation. The listener can relate to Pink's state. He is losing consciousness and control, giving in to the effects of the drugs being administered to him.
One verse returns Pink to his childhood, to a time when he was sick with a fever. The doctor's voice is far from soothing, as the patient begins to submit to the drugs.
As new songs are covered on this blog, a definitive version will be added to a spotify playlist. Find it and the other Caffé Latté playlists at:
