THE 100 BEST SONGS

WRITTEN BY THE

BEE GEES

The Bee Gees was a trio consisting of 3 siblings: older brother Barry (born in Manchester in 1946), and twins Maurice and Robin Gibb (born Isle Of Man in 1949). The brothers first performed in Manchester in 1955. Three years later, the Gibb family emigrated to Brisbane, Australia. Today, the group is regarded one of the most successful music acts of all-time.

SPICKS AND SPECKS Bee Gees

The trio released debut album ‘The Bee Gees Play & Sing 14 Barry Gibb Songs’ in Australia in 1965. The following year, follow-LP ‘Spicks And Specks’ came out. The title track became the brothers’ first Top 10 hit anywhere in the world (in this case, Australia).

49

ALL THE LOVE IN THE WORLD Dionne Warwick

Written by the 3 members of The Bee Gees, this was the second single lifted off Warwick’s ‘Heartbreaker’ album. The song peaked at #10 in Britain.

48

LIVING TOGETHER Bee Gees

The trio penned this song which was included on the 1979 album ‘Spirits Having Flown’, the follow-up to the ‘Saturday Night Fever’ soundtrack LP.

THIS IS WHERE I CAME IN Bee Gees

The Bee Gees issued its final studio album in 2001. This was its title track. Written and produced by the trio, the single peaked at #18 on the British chart. Maurice passed away in January 2003.

WHAT KIND OF FOOL Barbra Streisand & Barry Gibb

One of the two duets recorded by the two vocalists for the ‘Guilty’ album. Both were Top 10 hits in America. This song also topped the Adult Contemporary Chart.

44

DESIRE Andy Gibb

This was the lead single for what sadly became Andy’s final studio album, ‘After Dark’. The song peaked at #4 in the U.S.A. in 1980. Andy’s hit streak dried up and his cocaine addiction hindered his career. After briefly hosting the TV music series “Solid Gold”, Andy tried acting but the momentum of his earlier success could not be revived. At the age of 30, he died of an inflammatory heart virus in 1988.

43

HEART (STOP BEATING IN TIME) Leo Sayer

In 1982, Leo Sayer reached #22 in the UK with this single produced by Arif Mardin and written by Barry, Robin and Maurice.

42

RUN WILD Barbra Streisand

Barry co-wrote this track on Streisand’s ‘Guilty’ album with Robin. It was used as the B-side for her smash hit “Woman In Love”.

41

TOO MUCH HEAVEN Bee Gees

In 1978, this song penned by the 3 brothers reached #1 in America. Proceeds of the single were donated to the Music For UNICEF charity. Other contributing acts included ABBA, Donna Summer, Rod Stewart and Olivia Newton-John. It was the first single issued from ‘Spirits Having Flown’ following the phenomenal sales of the ‘Saturday Night Fever’ motion picture soundtrack.
