"You Little Thief" was written by Benmont Tench, a founding member of Tom.Petty & The Heartbreakers. Feargal Sharkey befriended Tench and his then partner Maria McKee. When the couple split, she penned the song "A Good Heart". Tench responded bitterly with his own song, "You Little Thief". Both were recorded by Sharkey.
