The Bee Gees was a trio consisting of 3 siblings: older brother Barry (born in Manchester in 1946), and twins Maurice and Robin Gibb (born Isle Of Man in 1949). The brothers first performed in Manchester in 1955. Three years later, the Gibb family emigrated to Brisbane, Australia. Today, the group is regarded one of the most successful music acts of all-time.

NEW YORK MINING DISASTER 1941 Bee Gees

This was the first Bee Gees single to chart in America and Britain. Written by Barry and Robin, the Beatlesque track reached the Top 20 in both territories.

LOVE ME Yvonne Elliman

American singer Yvonne Elliman had played Mary Magdalene on stage and screen versions of “Jesus Christ Superstar” before marrying Bill Oakes, the president of RSO Records. The label was owned by Robert Stigwood. She later signed with RSO where labelmates Bee Gees had just recorded “Love Me” for the 1976 LP ‘Children Of The World’. Elliman’s cover reached #6 in the UK and #14 in the US.

NEVER GIVE UP Barbra Streisand

Barry wrote this ‘Guilty’ album track with Albhy Galuten. Both men co-produced the LP with Karl Richardson.

ALONE Bee Gees

In 1997, this single became the Bee Gees' final Top 40 American hit. There, the disc climbed to #28. The song was a Top 10 hit in Britain, Europe, Australia and New Zealand. “Alone” was written by the trio and appeared on the ‘Still Waters’ album.

I’VE GOTTA GET A MESSAGE TO YOU Bee Gees

This was the first Top 10 single in America for the Gibb brothers. The trio penned the song which became the Bee Gees’ second British #1 single in 1968. It made the top 3 in Canada, Australia, parts of Europe and in New Zealand.

HOW CAN YOU MEND A BROKEN HEART Bee Gees

The Bee Gees finally reached #1 in 1971 with this single. It was written by Barry and Robin. The trio produced it with Robert Stigwood. This also topped the Canadian chart and peaked at #2 in Australia.

PROMISES Barbra Streisand

While Barry contributed to writing all of the 9 tracks on ‘Guilty’, Robin co-wrote 5 of them with him. This is one of the two brothers’ compositions.

SPIRITS (HAVING FLOWN) Bee Gees

The title track from the trio’s follow-up album to ‘Saturday Night Fever’ was written by Barry. The LP was unleashed in 1979 and reached #1 in America, Britain, Brazil, Argentina, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and in many European countries. Global sales surpassed 20 million copies.

LONELY DAYS Bee Gees

Barry, Robin and Maurice wrote this song that became the trio’s first US Top 5 single in 1970. The brothers co-produced the track with Robert Stigwood for the ‘2 Years On’ album. The LP was the result of Robin re-joining the group.

WORDS Bee Gees

This 1968 single was the Bee Gees’ third UK Top 10 hit. It was written by the three members. The disc became the group’s first #1 in Canada. In America, the track peaked at #15.
