NIGHTS ON BROADWAY Bee Gees

In 1975, this single made use of Barry’s recently discovered falsetto. It reached #7 on the US chart and peaked at #2 in Canada. Arif Mardin produced the track which was included on the ‘Main Course’ album.

MORE THAN A WOMAN Bee Gees

Two versions of this song were included on the ‘Saturday Night Fever’ album: one by The Bee Gees and a remake by American R&B group Tavares. The latter interpretation became the bigger hit, climbing to #7 in Britain and #32 in America.

I JUST WANT TO BE YOUR EVERYTHING Andy Gibb

Andy’s solo career began while he was still based in Australia. In 1977, his brothers’ global success helped propel him internationally, beginning with this- the first of Andy’s 3 consecutive US number ones. The single, written by Barry, also topped the charts in Brazil, Chile, Canada and Australia.

IF I CAN’T HAVE YOU Yvonne Elliman

This was the second hit single for Elliman with a Gibb connection. The Bee Gees wrote the song and its version was the B-side for “Stayin’ Alive”. Elliman’s interpretation was included on ‘Saturday Night Fever’ and reached #1 in North America. The single also made the Top 10 in the UK, Australia, New Zealand and parts of Europe. By reaching the top in America, this was the fourth #1 lifted off the film soundtrack. In fact, this was the fourth consecutive chart-topping song co-written by Barry, following “Stayin’ Alive”, “(Love Is) Thicker Than Water” and “Night Fever”. A song written by Barry had been at #1 for 15 consecutive weeks.

MASSACHUSETTS Bee Gees

Despite never having been there, the brothers decided to write a song named after the US state. The song was issued as a single in 1967. Robin is the lead vocalist. This became the first of the trio’s 5 UK #1s. The disc sold well in America (#11), Canada (#2), Japan (#1), Australia (#2), New Zealand (#1) and across Europe.
