Vocalist Sam Smith was born in London, England in 1992. Before his solo career kicked off, the youth gained experience singing in choirs, bands and musical productions.
Smith was the featured voice on Disclosure's 2012 single "Latch", which peaked at #7 US and 11 in Britain. The duo produced his debut solo single "Lay Me Down" which was released in the following year. While the single struggled, Smith sang on Naughty Boy's "La La La". The disc topped the British chart as well as reaching the Top 5 in Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Israel.
He enjoyed solo chart toppers in his own right in 2014 with "Money On My Mind" and "Stay With Me". The latter peaked at #2 Stateside and collected the Grammy Awards for Record and Song of the Year.
In 2014, his 1st full length album 'In The Lonely Hour' reached #1 in the UK and Australia and #2 on the US chart. It contained 2 more Top 10 hits: "I'm Not The Only One" and "Like I Can". The re-release of "Lay Me Down" in 2015 finally saw it climb to #1 in Britain.
Later that year, Smith released his song for the film 'Spectre', the latest instalment in the James Bond franchise. "Writing's On The Wall" became the 1st Bond song to top the UK chart.
Smith endeared himself even further to the public by bravely coming out as proud gay man. Fans eagerly await his 2nd studio album.
