Eric Benét is an American contemporary R&B musician with hints of adult contemporary, neo-soul and old skool R&B in his music. He was born in 1970. His first attempts to establish a career in music was in a group with his sister and cousin named Benét. A self-titled album was released in 1992. Undeterred by its lack of success, Eric concentrated on a solo career.
In 1996, his solo debut release 'True To Myself' made inroads on the US R&B Chart. This was followed by 'A Day In The Life' 3 years later. It fared better, reaching #25 Pop and 6 R&B. The album contained the hits "Georgy Porgy" (a cover of the Toto song that featured Faith Evans) and "Spend My Life With You" (a duet with Tamia). On the R&B Chart, the latter reached #1. It was also Benét's first single to crack the Pop Top 40.
In 2001, he married actress Halle Berry. Around the time, Benét was seen on the TV sitcom "For Your Love" and in the film 'Glitter'. His marriage ended in separation in 2003.
'Love & Life' returned him to the higher rungs on the album chart in 2008. 'Lost In Time' arrived 2 years later and paid tribute to 1970s soul. His most recent set of new songs was an eponymous album issued in 2016 which featured the joyous track "Sunshine".
