#99
FALLEN
“…The leaves have lost hold of the branches as always,
which leaves us with
gold & wine coloured pathways.
In the same way I,
in the same way
I’ve fallen for you....
Canadian singer/ songwriter Ron Sexsmith may not be a household name, but he has created some beautiful songs. The tender "Fallen" was included on his 'Blue Boy' album. This disc was issued in 2001.
The lyrics are minimalist, but conjure up sweet images. One verse contains the line: "you opened your arms like a school door to summer days". This understated approach provides intimacy.
In 2004, Sexsmith's compatriot K.D. Lang released 'Hymns Of The 49th Parallel'. The album was a collection of tracks written by Canadians. It included a beautiful interpretation of "Fallen".
As new songs are covered on this blog, a definitive version will be added to a spotify playlist. Find it and the other Caffé Latté playlists at:
