On his 1982 album 'The Nylon Curtain', Billy Joel commented on the state of the economy. The track "Allentown" deals with the issues arising from the closure of a steel mill in Pennsylvania. It reflects the consequences of economics during the Reagan presidency. 
Joel channels Bruce Springsteen as his lyrics allow an insight to the listener on the plight of the American town. It's hard not to be moved by the song.
