ABBATHE 40 MOST IMPORTANT SONGS

22 I AM THE CITY

Writers: Benny Andersson / Bjorn Ulvaeus

Before ABBA realized that the group's end had arrived, recording sessions for what should have been its 9th album had begun. On 5 May, 1982, ABBA started work on "I Am The City". Had the split not eventuated, the song would not have made this list, but, in the context of what did happen, it serves as a glimpse of what that 9th album might have been like. This is an upbeat song that reflected the sound of the 1980s, a shift from the more sombre 'Visitors' album. Agnetha & Frida share lead vocals.
