CAFFE` LATTE` TOP 2000 TRACKS

#197 LOVEFOOL The Cardigans
Swedish band The Cardigans formed in 1992 and had moved into an apartment together  by the following year to commence creating music. Debut album 'Emmerdale' was a domestic hit for the Swedes in 1994. Follow-up 'Life' widened the group's appeal a year later. America took notice around the release of the 1996 album, 'First Band on the Moon'. The Cardigans broke through with the catchy "Lovefool", a song from that album and featured in Baz Luhrmann's adaptation of 'Romeo + Juliet' that same year. The movie -which starred Leonardo di Caprio and Claire Danes- and its soundtrack, proved a worldwide hit.
"Lovefool" was written by group members Peter Svensson and Nina Persson. Tore Johansson produced the track for The Cardigans' album. Its use in 'Romeo + Juliet' helped expose the catchy tune to a wider audience. The single reached #1 in New Zealand and peaked at #2 in the US and UK.
Following its success, The Cardigans charted with other singles, including "My Favourite Game" in 1998, "Erase / Rewind" and "Burning Down the House" - the latter a collaboration with Tom Jones - the following year. Their most recent album release was 'Super Extra Gravity' in 2005.

This is a list made up of the songs I enjoy the most, ranked in order of preference: the higher we go, the more I cherish them. Some were released as singles, others as album tracks. Some are obscure; others were worldwide hits or have universal appeal. They aren't always the most famous or popular, but simply a personal choice. I have excluded songs from the last few years in order to get a better idea of a song's lasting impression. I hope you find some new tracks to love, or re-discover some past favourites.
A new song from the Top 200 is added each day, while another 2 are also added from positions 1501-2000 daily. Check back here every 12 hours for an update of the 2000.
