CAFFE` LATTE`
TOP 1500 CHOICE TRACKS

#215 ALL I ASK OF YOU Cliff Richard & Sarah Brightman
Andrew Lloyd Webber was inspired by his then wife Sarah Brightman to create the mega-hit musical "The Phantom of the Opera". She was born in 1960 in England, first coming to attention as a dancer, before landing a role in Lloyd Webber's "Cats".  Brightman met the songwriter around this time and a relationship soon blossomed. Lloyd Webber divorced his 1st wife and wed her. Their marriage lasted until 1990.
It was during this time that Lloyd Webber co-wrote "Phantom..." with lyricist Charles Hart. "All I Ask Of You" also featured some words by Richard Stilgoe. Brightman was cast in the main role of Christine Daae'. The musical has been a staple of London's West End and Broadway ever since.
In 1986, Brightman released the big love song from the show, "All I Ask Of You", as a duet with Cliff Richard. Lloyd Webber produced the recording. The single reached #1 in Ireland and South Africa, In Britain, the duet peaked at #3. In Australia, the disc climbed to #24.
Brightman appeared in later Lloyd Webber musicals "Requiem" and "Aspects of Love". Following their divorce, Brightman has released solo albums. She moved permanently to the USA in 2010. Her most recent album release was 'Dreamchaser' in 2013.

This is a list made up of the songs I enjoy the most, ranked in order of preference: the higher we go, the more I cherish them. Some were released as singles, others as album tracks. Some are obscure; others were worldwide hits or have universal appeal. They aren't always the most famous or popular, but simply a personal choice. I have excluded songs from the last few years in order to get a better idea of a song's lasting impression. I hope you find some new tracks to love, or re-discover some past favourites.
A new song is added each day.
