ABBATHE 40 MOST IMPORTANT SONGS

13 GIMME! GIMME! GIMME! (A MAN AFTER MIDNIGHT)

Writers: Benny Andersson / Bjorn Ulvaeus

After releasing 'Voulez Vous', ABBA revisited the dance floor for the disco-flavoured "Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!". Agnetha brings a realism in her vocal delivery, craving attention from a man.  ABBA, unlike so many of their contemporaries, never get formulaic in their dance music. Benny and Bjorn astutely added nuances that put the group's unique stamp on their songs in that vein. The track cleverly acts as a bridge between the disco sound of the 70s and the synth-driven dance beat of the 1980s. The following year, ABBA released its 'Super Trouper' album.
