ABBATHE 40 MOST IMPORTANT SONGS

24 SHE'S MY KIND OF GIRL

Writers: Benny Andersson / Bjorn Ulvaeus

Before there was ABBA, there was Bjorn and Benny. The duo's first single was "She's My Kind Of Girl". When it was recorded in late 1969, the seminal song was for the porn film 'The Seduction of Inga'. Issued in 1970, the song flopped in Scandinavia. Its importance in ABBA's history however, lies in its success outside of Scandinavia. Unaware of its use in the porn movie, Japanese pop audiences made "My Kind Of Girl" a major hit in their country. This was thus the first taste of the potential appeal of Benny & Bjorn's collaboration. While Agnetha and Frida are absent, the song was included on the debut ABBA album 'Ring Ring' in 1973.
