CAFFE` LATTE`
TOP 1200 CHOICE TRACKS

#1011-1007 (MID-WEEK BONUS)
#1011 COMIN' IN AND OUT OF YOUR LIFE Barbra Streisand
Barbra Streisand emerged as a singer and actress in the 1960s. She was even more prolific during the Seventies. As that decade gave in to the 80s, she released her best selling album to that point, 'Guilty'. There had been previous 'Greatest Hits' compilations, but 1981 saw a new set issued to capitalize on her new fan base. Pulling together key tracks from Streisand's repertoire, 'Memories' was distinct from the others in its inclusion of recent cuts (including "The Love Inside" from 'Guilty') and 3 previously unreleased songs. "Comin' in and Out of Your Life" was 1 of these new tracks. Written by Richard Parker & Bobby Whiteside, the recording was produced by Andrew Lloyd Webber. It was issued as a single that year and peaked at #11 in the US.

#1010 YOU BELONG TO ME Carly Simon & Michael McDonald
This duet features Carly Simon & Michael McDonald (then a member of the Doobie Brothers). They also co-wrote the song. The Doobies' version was issued in 1977 on their 'Livin' on the Fault Line' LP. Simon's remake (with McDonald) came out the following year. It was included on her 'Boys in the Trees' album.

#1009 THE RECORD (BABY I LOVE YOU) Ben E. King
After his stint as lead singer for the seminal group The Drifters, Ben E. King launched a successful solo career. He will always be remembered for his best known song, "Stand by Me". Sadly, there are some other great, but often overlooked, examples of his vocal skill contained within his catalogue. One such song is "The Record (Baby I Love You)". The track was issued as a single in 1965. King's delivery and Bert Bern's production are obscure memories now, but serve as great examples of those magical soul recordings of that era. The song was penned by the very capable team of Kenny Young & Arthur Resnick. They also wrote "Under the Boardwalk", a hit the previous year for King's former group.

#1008 DON'T LET GO Isaac Hayes
"Don't Let Go" is a cover version by Isaac Hayes of a 1957 hit by Roy Hamilton. The original peaked at #13 on the Pop charts & reached #2 R&B in the US.  Hayes radically transformed the song penned by Jesse Stone. He slowed down the singing and let the beat take over. This was a disco-flavoured makeover. The cut was the title track from his 1979 LP and was Hayes'  Top 20 chart comeback hit.

#1007 IF I THOUGHT YOU'D EVER CHANGE YOUR MIND Agnetha Faltskog
This was the first new single released by the former member of Abba since the 1980s. Agnetha Faltskog had avoided public appearances for some time prior to the release of her comeback album, 'My Colouring Book' in 2004. John Cameron wrote the song which was a hit in 1969 for UK singer Cilla Black. Her version reached #20, while Faltskog's remake peaked at #11 in Britain.
