#835 JUSTIFIED & ANCIENT The KLF featuring Tammy Wynette
Another unlikely collaboration that works a charm: UK dance act The KLF and American country music veteran Tammy Wynette. The KLF formed in Liverpool in 1987, originally calling themselves the JAMS (the "Justified Ancients of Mu Mu" referred to in the song). This project evolved into the house music duo which broke through with "3 A.M. Eternal" a UK #1 in 1991. 
Both members of The KLF, Jimi Cauty and Bill Drummond co-wrote "Justified & Ancient" with Ricky Lite (aka Ricardo de Force) who also can be heard on the track. This version of the song was released as a single in late 1991 and reached #1 in several countries, along with a #2 in Britain & #11 peak in the US. Despite their massive success, the KLF broke up in 1992. Sadly, Lite passed away in 2013.
