#870 GLORIA Umberto Tozzi
Following Italian pop star Umberto Tozzi's success with breakthrough song "Ti Amo", his next worldwide significant release was "Gloria".  The song was co-written by him with Giancarlo Bigazzi. Issued in 1979 in the USA, Latin America and Australia, it piqued interest. In the latter territory, the follow-up peaked at #46 in 1980. This was eclipsed 2 years later when American singer Laura Branigan scored a massive international smash with her English version of the upbeat song.
