Born in 1979, English singer Sophie Ellis-Bextor first tasted fame as a member of The Audience. She then enjoyed a #1 single as the voice on Spiller's "Groovejet (If This Ain't Love)" in 2000.

The following year, Ellis-Bextor unleashed her solo debut single, a cover of Cher's "Take Me Home". It peaked at #2 in the UK, as did follow-up "Murder On The Dancefloor". Other significant singles include "Bittersweet" and ""Heartbreak (Make Me A Dancer)".
