DRAGON
Formed in New Zealand in 1973, Dragon established a loyal following in Australia by the late 1970s. As well as reaching #1 there with "Are You Old Enough?', the band charted with hits that included: "Get That Jive", "April Sun In Cuba" and "Still In Love With You". Drugs soon hindered the group's progress. Charismatic lead singer Marc Hunter was so badly affected by drug abuse that he was sacked in 1979. Although Dragon persevered briefly with replacement Billy Rogers, the band broke up.
In 1982, Hunter re-united with the other members for a re-union tour. The concerts proved so popular that Dragon re-formed. "Rain" was issued as a single in 1984. It peaked at #2 in Australia, followed by other hits such as "Magic", "Speak No Evil" and "Wilderworld".
Dragon disbanded in 1988. Hunter died 10 years later. His brother Todd, a founding member, is the pivotal member of the band's current incarnation
