Shannon (1983) 
American disco singer Shannon was born Brenda Shannon Greene. The dance track "Let The Music Play" reached #8 in America and charted in Europe as well as Britain. It was the 1st of her 4 US Dance Chart #1s.

American songwriter/ musician sings a song dealing with the death of a pet dog. The sad ballad peaked at #6 in America and fared well in other territories.

HAVEN'T STOPPED DANCING YET
Gonzalez (1979) 
English disco group Gonzalez scored a dance floor hit around the world with "Haven't Stopped Dancing Yet". The disc peaked at #26 on the US chart and reached #15 in Britain.

WHEN I'M WITH YOU
Sheriff (1983)
Although "When I'm With You" initially charted in 1983, the single only reached #61 in America. Re-issued 5 years later, the Canadian group made it all the way to #1 there.

Samantha Sang (1977) 
Barry Gibb co-wrote "Emotion" with brother Robin. The former contributed background vocals. Samantha Sang was born Cheryl Gray in Melbourne. The Australian singer reached #3 in America with the disco-tinged ballad. Her only hit record also made #11 in the UK and charted in Australia, Europe and New Zealand. Destiny's Child covered the song in 2001.

TO KNOW HIM IS TO LOVE HIM
The Teddy Bears (1958)
This white doo wop vocal group enjoyed 3 weeks at #1 in America and peaked at #2 in the UK. The L.A. trio featured Phil Spector as a member. He went on to become one of pop music's most creative producers, helming classics by The Ronettes, The Crystals, Ike & Tina Turner, John Lennon and The Beatles. Another member, Carol Connors, co-wrote "Gonna Fly Now" for the film 'Rocky'.

LAST NIGHT A DJ SAVED MY LIFE
InDeep (1982) 
Michael Cleveland was the mastermind between the dance group which featured singers Reggie Megliore and Rose Marie Ramsey. InDeep made #2 on the US Dance Chart, as well as charting in Britain and Europe. Mariah Carey covered the dance classic in 2001.

Taco (1982)
Taco was born in Indonesia to Dutch parents. He scored a global hit with his synth pop remake of the Irving Berlin classic song.

Tonic (1997) 
Tonic formed in Los Angeles. "If You Could Only See" was the band's debut chart single. It went Top 20 in the U.S.A., Canada and Australia.

RIGHT ON TRACK
Breakfast Club (1987)
Breakfast Club was a New York dance group that featured Stephen Bray on drums. He later produced Madonna's 'True Blue' album. She was a member of Breakfast Club in 1979 before going solo.
