MODELS
Models formed in Melbourne, Australia in the post-punk era. Emerging in 1978, the band spearheaded the local new wave scene with a unique sound that spawned the tracks "Two Cabs To The Toucan", "Local &/Or General" and "I Hear Motion". Sean Kelly was the pivotal member.
The addition of James Freud in 1982 resulted in a shift in musical direction. His pop sensibilities gave Models its most radio-friendly material. Highlight tracks "Barbados" and the Australian #1 single "Out Of Mind, Out Of Sight" were followed by others such as "Hold On", "Let's Kiss" and "Big On Love".
In 1988, Models split. Kelly and Andrew Duffield created Absent Friends and The Dukes. James Valentine became a TV presenter. Freud formed Beatfish as well as re-igniting his solo career. Models reformed in subsequent years. Freud committed suicide in 2010.
